    The very hungry caterpillar
    (Philomel Books, 1997-06-16) Eric Carle
The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is a classic children's book written by Eric Carle. It tells the story of a small caterpillar who is very hungry. Over the course of several days, the caterpillar eats through a variety of foods, including fruits, pastries, and other treats. Each day, the caterpillar eats more than the day before, and by the end of the week, it feels very full and begins to feel sick from overeating. After eating so much, the caterpillar spins itself into a cocoon and rests for several weeks. Eventually, it emerges as a beautiful butterfly, having undergone a remarkable transformation. The story is celebrated for its simple text, colorful illustrations, and its introduction to the concepts of counting, days of the week, and the life cycle of a butterfly.
